Beef Ranch - Cow Calf & Bull Development
Location: Nebraska
Sandy Ridge Ranch focuses on raising seedstock for our own use and to sell to farms and ranches that represent the needs of industry. Breeding decisions are focused on our personal use for our beef herd and our dairy herd, separately. Our beef herd includes Limousin and Angus genetics. Raising quality replacement females for our cow-calf herd and bulls for breeding purposes is a priority. Our dairy farms are breeding a large percentage of our dairy females to beef for beef-dairy market offspring, so terminal sires are bred and raised, as well.
Ranch work involves breeding management, cow-calf and bull selection, nutrition, pasture grass management, record-keeping and health care. Important duties include moving cattle by horseback, cattle movements, processing, chute work, pen and pasture riding, and health treatments while focusing on animal care and safety.X Slider Background SettingsCalf Ranch - Health
Locations: Minnesota, New Mexico
Beefbuilder™ calves are a terminal offspring born on the dairy farms. These calves are born on the dairy, therefore are cared for on the calf ranch. Health care of the calves begins at the dairy farm in the nursery within minutes of birth. At 12-24 hours of birth the calves are transferred by truck to the calf ranch. Upon arrival the calves are monitored for health, given proper vaccinations, and blood tested for colostrum protein solids.
Hardworking, calm demeanor, efficiency and proper animal care are requirements to work in this area. Animal Science, Dairy Science, and Animal Health majors are a great fit for this team.X Slider Background SettingsCalf Ranch - Nutrition
